I wish people like this would take a look at history sometime. Natural child rearing was a trend in Europe after Rousseau wrote Emile, the story of a boy who is raised according to hypothetical ideal standards on an island away from society. Several people read Rousseau or one of his disciples and decided that they were going to raise their own little Emiles. So why is it that we aren’t all natural parents today? Because as many18th century parents who raised their children according to radical notions of parenting could tell the Allens, children who are raised without rules grow into absolutely insufferable adults.*
*Of course, these results were only available for children who were not killed off before they grew up by diseases which are now preventable via vaccines.
