If these results are accurate, I’m going to guess that ugly people have to work very hard because they can’t rely on their looks to get them anywhere. In fact, ugly people probably have to be better than other people because if an average person and an ugly person are both in the running for, say, a job, the average person is going to get it if other factors are equal. Beautiful people, on the other hand, are probably more likely to receive opportunities, but they don’t need to work as hard once they have them. So while it’s possible for a motivated beautiful person to be educated and to develop skills, society doesn’t encourage beautiful people to do what’s necessary to succeed at ugly person levels, so many beautiful people — particularly if they are also charming — simply coast.
