How Libertarians Do Money

Libertarians just confuse me. I mean, sure, I can get behind the idea that government should mostly stay out of people’s business, and lower taxes sound great in the abstract, but I like having something resembling a social safety net for me, my friends, and my family should any of us ever need it. After all, everyone except Bill Gates and other gazillionaires is only one serious medical issue away from potential financial ruin. As for the military budget, I’m sure that there are cuts to be made, but the U.S. has established itself as one of the world’s foremost military powers, and I don’t see how our country can give that up given the current political climate, ongoing wars, etc. That’s unfortunate, but not because of the taxes. If the military budget can be cut, I’d like to see that money go to lowering medical and childcare costs, improving education and lowering tuition fees, providing job training, making money available to the poor and indigent, etc.
