This point makes sense to me, and I think I can answer the why: because people who are unskilled and poor are more likely than members of higher classes to be either unemployed or working in jobs that don’t pay much per hour and/or only offer part-time hours.
People who are wealthier may not have to work as much as they do, but the vast majority at least have the option to work full time, if not more.
