Slate says that the honorarium will be $2,500 http://www.slate.com/blogs/xx_factor/2017/02/21/the_mall_of_america_s_writer_in_residence_contest_is_capitalism_s_answer.html. Which isn’t terrible wage ($78/ hr.), but unless the chosen writer is from Minnesota, I have to assume that a big chunk of it will go toward transportation to and from the job.
Also, while I wouldn’t necessarily want to write a take-down of all things corporate and Mall, this job couldn’t be any fun if the writer can’t occasionally write something just a tiny bit negative about the Mall, it’s stores, it’s food, and/ or its shoppers.
