The thing about the daily coffee problem is that almost no one actually drinks coffee every day. Most people who stop by Starbucks for a latte on Mon-Fri must make coffee at home on weekends. And people disrupt their daily coffee-buying routines for all sorts of reasons — money, vactions, staying home sick.
I’d wager that the majority of people who would say they have a daily Starbucks habit only grab Starbucks on 4–5 days per week (if that), and that estimates of the cost of that coffee are mostly overblown, probably because people need to feel self-righteous about how others spend their money and because people who give financial advice need to sell books that claim to be able to make people rich (It’s easy! Just give up your daily Starbucks habit and you, too, can be a millionaire!).
