This is so wrong, although for once I don’t think the blame should placed on Uber.

Uber says that its workers are independent contractors, so I don’t think there is any way for the company to offer maternity leave. It’s just one more way that “independent contractors” are unprotected in the gig economy (not that all employees are provided with maternity leave or sufficient maternity leave, of course).
