Thank you for this beautiful article. I have a younger brother, numerous cousin brothers and many male friends. I have seen them be sensitive, polite, trusting, understanding, helpful, and treat me as equals. There have been times I have been unintentionally sexist towards my own self and a male friend has corrected me. My younger brother also cooks, while my skills fall short in the kitchen. He always brings to my attention the negative effects of patriarchy on the psyches of men who have to be, as you put it, ‘real men’. This hypermasculine ideal it extremely detrimental. When did men become men first and human second?
