In many games, there are competitions to determine the best player in a particular class. In our beloved Lineage 2, the Olympiad serves this purpose. Only the strongest players can excel in this arena and demonstrate their mastery of their class in L2.
Registration and Participation in the Lineage 2 Olympiad
Only players who have completed the quest for the third profession and have attained the noble rank are eligible to participate in these competitions. To register, a player must approach the Lineage 2 Olympiad Manager and select the appropriate option. The available options include class-based 1v1 fights, non-class-based 1v1 fights, and group battles 3v3. For solo matches to start, at least 10 players need to register. Group battles commence if six teams sign up. The daily Olympiad event runs from 18:00 to 24:00 Moscow time. A full Olympiad cycle lasts one calendar month.
When a match is about to begin, a message appears in the system chat, indicating the remaining seconds. Two minutes after the match initiation, characters are teleported to one of four randomly selected arenas. Upon arrival, players have one minute to buff and prepare for the encounter. Ten seconds before the match starts, the doors open, giving access to the battleground. Each match lasts five minutes; if no winner emerges within this time, victory goes to the player who inflicted the most damage. Players get 70 attempts per week to participate in the Lineage 2 Olympiad.
As rewards for their battles, players receive Olympiad points and tokens. Points transfer between characters depending on the match outcome. At the end of the month, all points are tallied, and the player with the highest points in their class becomes the Hero. Olympiad tokens are awarded for victories and can be exchanged for rewards. To be eligible for rewards, a player must participate in at least fifteen matches per month, regardless of the outcomes. Tokens can be exchanged for various items: enhancement scrolls, skill books, quick healing potions, parts of S84 sets, Hero’s shirt, and Olympiad jewelry.

There’s immense satisfaction in matches where you’re evenly matched with your opponent, with the outcome uncertain until the very end. The adrenaline rush of unexpectedly defeating a strong opponent is unparalleled. Essentially, the Lineage 2 Olympiad is a chance to prove to yourself that you are a worthy player and that your knowledge of your class is extensive.

As in any competition, the Lineage 2 Olympiad has its drawbacks. One major flaw is the potential for character feeding, where some characters intentionally lose to others. Large clans and bot users often exploit this method. Another downside is the lack of restrictions on gear enhancement. This gives players who can afford rare items for real money a significant advantage over regular players, undermining the competition’s fairness.
