Avoid Rogue Tradesmen by Ensuring You Only Hire a Registered Plumber
With a great deal of media coverage showing how seemingly easy it is for an unqualified, unregistered tradesman to be welcomed into the home of an unsuspecting individual in need of plumbing assistance, it is vital that people are aware of how to find a genuine professional plumber.
After completing NVQs and other industry-recognised training programmes, a qualified plumber will be able to efficiently install heating systems, domestic appliances, bathrooms and ventilation systems. Rogue tradesmen claiming to have years of experience are likely to do a poor job but still charge extortionate prices. It stands to reason then, that when you need a new boiler installed or a bathroom refurbishment, you should hire someone who can prove they have the necessary qualifications.
Of course, when an emergency presents itself there may not be time to search the internet for approved tradesmen. In this case, recommendations are key. Ask a family member or a friend if they know of a decent plumber or, if you’ve recently had other work carried out on your property, ask the tradesman you used to recommend someone.
If time isn’t an issue, check out the Institute of Plumbing website which lists registered plumbers in your area. Once you’ve found several different companies, look on their websites for customer comments and feedback to see if their work is of a high standard. If you need heating installation services, always check that your chosen plumbing company are Gas Safe registered and whether they are a member of a professional trade body such as the Association of Plumbers and Heating Contractors (APHC). Being officially approved is a good indication of the level of service on offer.
