The ‘Perfect Time’ Will Never Arrive

Ever thought about attempting something awesome, then didn’t because you wanted to wait for ‘the right moment?’
This makes sense in theory. Most people want to feel prepared, especially if they’re pressured to do a perfect job.
Here’s a life-enhancing firecracker of a fact though: there are some things you’ll never truly be ‘ready’ for.
There’ll never the ‘perfect time’ to try something brave. An excuse will always exist. Maybe you haven’t read enough about it. Perhaps you haven’t practiced enough (or at all). Or there’s some task you want to complete before you try this new challenge.
These excuses are most bullsh*t! The real reason you’re procrastinating is almost always fear.
Accept this and you’ll see the best time to take action is RIGHT NOW.
It never gets easier
In my journey to becoming fearless around beautiful women, I’ve set myself all sorts of milestones.
I looked forward to flirting with my ‘perfect 10’, the first time approaching a woman without my friends there, the moment I’d chat someone up on the tube!
I’ve achieved all of these — but none of these successes occurred the same day as I set the target. Not even the month after.
I wanted to wait until I was ready. I wanted to ‘warm up’ in easier situations. I thought I needed to read more theory.
This was all a waste of time. Every situation was still as scary as when I first thought about it!
And it’ll be the same for you. Speaking to someone new will always be nerve-wracking. So will travelling solo. Skydiving. Changing careers. Asking out that woman from work who keeps smiling at you.
We will always fear the unknown. So you might as well get stuck in straight away!
Act first, think afterwards
I’ve lost so many opportunities by waiting for the ‘perfect time’ to talk to women in public.
So many times, I’ve seen a sexy woman on a crowded central London street, contemplated how to skip through the crowd, waited for a space in the sea of people, wondered how to say hello without startling her, thought of something say that’s funny afterwards etc etc etc.
Only to watch her disappear downstairs into the tube station…That’s the price of waiting for the perfect time and place.
Here’s what I realised while walking through Oxford Street this week: a real boss goes for what he wants without thinking. Even if he’s not sure of the best thing to say. He trusts in his calibration — and that he’s cool enough to get away with a few errors.
I saw a beautiful girl sauntering towards Bond Street station. She was surrounded by shoppers. But those legs were far too toned and skinny for me to see skip down those tube stairs.
There was no time for thinking. I charged through the crowd and tapped her on the shoulder, bashing square into some bloke as I did so.
‘Watch it,’ he shouted.
‘Careful!’ the chick exclaimed.
‘Oh yeah, it’s super-crowded here,’ I said, then carried on as normal.
So simple. I’d never hit on a hottie in a huge crowd before that. I was too worried about waiting for the perfect approach. If only I’d learned to act without thinking earlier.
The same strategy should apply to women in coffee-shops, on the Central Line, climbing up escalators, sat with their friends, insert other excuse…
Walk over, say hi and work it out from there.
My ‘next awesome thing’
I have decided to write another book — and this one is a true story. It’s the journey of how I transformed from a dude who hated himself and had a horrible dating life to the chap who does crazy things like the story explained above. .
Maybe that ‘sales copy’ isn’t slick enough — but I wanted to go public about this as soon as possible.
I planned to start writing in April once I’d moved house, but this blog post has inspired me to begin tomorrow!
