What They Don’t Tell You in Therapy

First off, thank you Liz for writing this very thoughtful piece. And Daniel for adding that sometimes depression has a specific source. I’ve battled both kinds. Many years of therapy helped me see and understand that it’s a part of me that has always been there. The worst bout was chemically induced (birth control) and rendered me barely functional, near suicidal. It took therapy and medication to recover from that black hole which swallowed two years of my life.

Thank you for putting into words what is often hard to describe…that depression often manifests in new and often subtle ways and sometimes we don’t recognize it.
