Connection

We are all connected; not just in a goofy, spiritually magical way. We are all physically, scientifically connected and that has been proven.

Everything that you can see and touch around you are made up of the same fundamental physical masses. We and every other physical object in the universe are nothing but the sum of a given amount of particles.

Therefore you and I and butterflies and your 2nd grade teacher and the dust at the farthest reaches of the universe are all made of the same things and come from the same place.

At the most fundamental level, there is no difference between you and a bottle of diet coke. In fact, almost all of the atoms that were in your body last year are no longer in your body now, so what are you?

Well, the answer is simple, you and everything else are the same one thing. We see ourselves as separated from our environment, because that is what we have evolved to do.

What things are are how we define them to be. I am Justin. Or am I a set of organs? Or am I a mass of cells working together?

If you look at the language of the word organism you can see the prefix organ as in organize! We are defined by science as an organized set of cells and systems!

We only see ourselves as separate because our senses filter the unlimited information of the universe around us. We can only see a certain spectrum of light and hear certain wavelengths of sound.

But it’s all there. We are a part of this vast infinity and that is just as much who we are as the bodies we live in.

SO WHAT’S THE POINT?

The point is that because this fundamental truth that physical separation is a myth, a lot can be inferred about why we do what we do and why the universe works the way it does.

For example, I have inferred and I solemnly believe that because of our perceived separation, we have an inherent desire to connect!

We as human beings want to connect with the infinite more than anything else. The truth is, every desire we have is a desire for something more. Something that we don’t think we have.

That is what desire is; the want for more. This is how I’ve defined love. Love is the connection we feel. This is why people can love anything.

We can love one another or art or our favorite stuffed animal or our hobbies… It goes on and on. That is because that love is nothing but a deeper connection than most.

This is the root of all our pursuits. This is why people vie for fame or money or their dreams or their dream partners or even getting into heaven. We want to connect. We want to be more than what we are or have more than what we have. We want to be infinite again.

That’s why I believe that these pursuits aren’t misguided, but they can be completely misunderstood. Going after more will only do you harm if you miss the point.

The point is that you never need to pursue more because you already have it all! We all do! That’s the beauty of this whole game that we play.

We have forgotten that we are all one. Literally and scientifically, we are the complex expressions of this infinite universe. When you mention the universe, you need to understand that you’re mentioning yourself too. You are a part of this big picture as if you were a droplet of water in an entire ocean.

Once one understands that fact, that person can go on living his life without taking everything too seriously. Because even if you were to die today, your atoms will go on forever. Your senses will stop, but your being will undeniably continue for eternity.

That is what death is. It is a end to the separation we feel because of our sensual filters. And luckily for you, you can die whenever you want to without actually stopping your heart.

That is what meditation is. It is a retreat back to the infinity that we’re all a part of. This is what monks practice. It’s the same for prayer as well, a ritual connection to the infinite.

In fact, that is also what sleep is. When you are unconscious, your senses aren’t nearly as active as they are when you’re awake. I know you’d be lying to me if you told me that you don’t often feel the most wholesome when you first wake up.

Only when you’ve understood that you are and always will be infinite, is when you can live properly and play the game of connection with much less negativity.

I myself haven’t completely come to terms with what that reality, but it is so nevertheless.

What this realization means for me is that I now know how to value certain actions and that I shouldn’t live my life any other way than the way I want to.

I’ve more come to terms with, by writing this blog post, the fact that perfection will never exist in the terms of the self, but it will always exist when I rekindle my connections to infinity.

Does this mean that all goals and hopes and dreams are pointless? No! It means that we shouldn’t take life so seriously and just remain positive. Games are supposed to be fun.

Every day when I write notes on my phone, I remind myself to dance. I write dance because dancing is pure play. You’re not supposed to get anywhere or do anything when dancing, you’re just supposed to enjoy yourself.

These are the meanings of life. Positivity and love. Although neither are necessary to survive, both are necessary to live.

Live.

Here are some videos on youtube that I have found that may better illustrate the points I’m trying to make.
