PR Success Story: 1000x ROI for a retail tech company

I’m very happy to report the success of our latest national PR campaign for a retail tech company: Salesfloor, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform, connects local sales associates with online shoppers for a more personalized customer experience. Their product is driving a 10x increase in online conversions among luxury and big box retailers. Moriah Creatives PR recently helped the company launch its platform in the United States.

Before we dive in, here’s some background. A friend referred Salesfloor to me last December. The more I learned about the company, the more excited I became to tell their story. The idea of being able to shop at my favorite luxury store with the guidance of a local sales associate made so much sense for me both as a Millennial buyer and storyteller.

My local Saks stylist knows me by name. She understands my body type and style preferences (structure blended with the exotic). I trust her to make sense of the store’s sea of apparel to surface interesting, on-trend pieces for special events, speaking engagements, and everyday wear. With Salesfloor, Kelly can text me a piece she knows I’ll love, then I can purchase it from my phone or ask her to hold it for my next in-store styling session. Thanks to the platform, I can also visit Saks.com and chat with her online about what’s next.

But back to PR…

Here’s what makes Salesfloor special:

  1. Customers no longer have to visit a store to receive personalized service.
  2. Omnichannel Convenience: Brands are empowered to deliver a high level of personalization across all channels.
  3. Local sales associates can create Associate Storefronts. These storefronts allow them to curate, showcase, and sell their favorite items online.
  4. Associates can also create Customer Pages — pages filled with custom product collections uniquely prepared for individual customers.
  5. Websites no longer compete with bricks and mortar stores for sales. Instead, associates are empowered to drive sales online and in-store.
  6. The company is already working with Saks, Neiman Marcus, Stuart Weitzman, Harry Rosen, Toys R Us, and other notable clients.

I knew we could tell a series of great stories built around Salesfloor’s $3M seed funding round, rapid adoption of the platform by retailers in the luxury and big box space, client success stories (like Saks’ 10x increases in online conversions using the platform), and why the service resonated so strongly with young buyers’ appreciation for simplicity through curation.

Our Approach

Moriah Creatives PR conducted a media audit, provided pre-launch positioning/messaging consulting services, defined the outreach strategy, drafted an editorial calendar, and executed the launch project over a two month contract. Target media included technology outlets, retail trade publications, and finance news.

In addition to a steady flow of earned media, we made one strategic media buy. We also focused on executive brand-building, and secured Salesfloor’s CMO opportunities to write thought leadership pieces for key retail industry publications.

Results

Using a phased approach, we accomplished the following:

  • Secured 124 media placements
  • Drove 80M+ views to Salesfloor stories
  • Achieve key placements in each of the targeted media silos
  • Once the campaign began, 15 new leads reached out to Salesfloor

The value of these leads effectively provided a 1000X ROI on the PR spend
