Is it possible that up and coming talent and even established ones try to get out of their deals in favor of creative freedom (being independent) and signing with a streaming service such as Apple Music? Sure labels develop artists but imagine Jeremih was releasing what he wanted when he wanted to. He’s a great example of an artist being “shelved” by his label.
