The key is to call and say you want to cancel your service first. You get transferred to customer retention and usually they can do something. If you just ask for a lower rate and then say you want to cancel, they don’t really care. YMMV. Seriously, though, if there was a plan that involved locking in a semi-decent rate for like 5 years, I would take it in a heartbeat.
