Ladakh- Highest Settlement in India

There is a great trough between Suru Valley and Zanskar Valley, which is surrounded by Himalayas and Zanskar Ranges. The most inhabited region in Suru Valley is Rangdum. After Rangdum, the valley sees an elevation of 4,400 meters at Pensi La, which is the gateway to Zanskar Valley. Farming limit is up to Korzok while on Tso Moriri Lake, which is at an altitude of 4,600 meters, there are the highest fields in the world.

Pangong Lake- The Highest Salt Water Lake

Pangong Tso is a Tibetan word, which means high grassland lake. It is located at an altitude of 4,350 meters in Himalayas and is an endorheic lake. During winter season, the lake freezes despite being the salty water.

Magnetic Hill- Gravity-Defying Phenomena

Ladakh is home to Magnetic Hill, where travellers can witness the gravity defying phenomena. It is located at an elevation of 11,000 feet and is 30 kilometres distant from Leh. The setting of road with slope of background creates an illusion of an upward hill while it is actually a downward hill.

Bailey Bridge- World’s Highest Bridge

Nestled between Suru River and Dras River, Bailey Bridge is the highest bridge in the world. Indian Army built this bridge in 1982 at a height of 5,602 meters above sea level.

Nubra Valley- Twin Humped Camels

Ladakh is the only place in India where twin humped camels are found. This species is also called Bactrian Camel and has two humps on the back. They are rarely found as compared to single humped camels. Camel safari on twin humped camels is the major attraction while you are in Nubra Valley, Ladakh.
