Bactrian Camel

In contrary to single humped camels, Bactrian camels are known for two humps. A long time ago, only few Bactrian camels were there, which is still continued. Nubra Valley is the place where Bactrian camels are found in abundance.

Black Necked Crane

The wetlands of Chushul are popular to spot the black necked cranes. Every year, during summer season black necked cranes migrate here. The marshes of Chushul are definitely a sight to behold.

Kiang Or Tibetan Wild Ass

Kiang is the largest wild ass and is found in Tibetan Plateau. The altitudes of 4000 and 7000 meters are apt for their living. Kiang asses are the athletic in nature and unlike other species of ass family they look pretty. One can spot the Kiangs in Changthang region of Ladakh.

Ladakh Urial

Urial is the sub-species group of wild sheep. They are popular for their amazing camouflage. They are largely found in Ladakh.

Yak

Yak, dong, or wild ox is the largest animal found in cold desert of Leh- Ladakh. During summer, it inhabits at an altitude of over 6,000 meters. However, during winter it moves down to lakes or lower valleys or marshes in herds.
