Social Media: Not the only way!

Many people who are looking for methods to market the company, immediately turn to social media in hopes of spreading the word faster and easier. A lot of people also become fixed on this method of marketing and feel that there is no other way to market themselves that will be just as effective. This, however, is not the case, there are many different platforms that companies can use to spread the word. Using an alternative method to social media could also be quite refreshing for your potential consumers, as well as attract and appeal to consumers that are not active on social media. Some advice, marketing should be a harmonious balance of materials and content spread across as many different platforms relative to your brand and your consumers. Take a look at some methods below;

Event marketing
Creating or sponsoring an event which is relevant to your brand, aiming to attract suitable consumers (potential and existing) to attend the event and therefore spark an interest in your brand and stimulate engagement with your brand, product or cause. Focusing on face-to-face contact between your organisation and consumers. Event marketing attaches a specific status to your brand.

Mobile marketing
Putting your brand at your consumers’ fingertips. Advertising which allows your brand to reach consumers through mobile devices (cell phones and/or tablets). Currently you will find mobile marketing is done through app creation, in-app advertising, QR coding and push notifications, as opposed to only the traditional SMS and MMS. Having access to location settings and the ability to send notifications about your products/services, makes mobile marketing a great way for your brand to constantly engage with, and collect data from, your consumers.

Point-of-Sale marketing
A technique used for consumers who are already purchasing items from a retail outlet which stocks your products. By strategically positioning creative marketing material, displays and products, near the point at where the sale is made, you are attracting consumers’ attention, thus generating impulsive buying actions. Have you noticed how queues in grocery stores are packed with delicious snacks and magazines? You unexpectedly end up chomping on a choc while finding out how to get ‘beach body ready’.

Public Relations (PR)
The concept of an organisation’s engagement (most commonly) with the media. PR is a form of cost-efficient communication between a profitable or non-profitable organisation, and the general public (the act of managing the spread of information). PR is a “mutually beneficial relationship”, where organisations gain exposure, and the interested parties gain knowledge and content about the organisation, to share with the public on various platforms.

Proximity marketing
A.k.a close range
Utilising bluetooth, wifi, barcodes, or interactive digital signage, to catch an individual in a close proximity, by ‘sending’ a notification to their digital device as they walk by. You can make the consumer aware of special deals and much more, thus promoting your product & creating awareness.
