Sunday, January 22, 2017 marks the 44th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the landmark Supreme Court decision that finally guaranteed a woman’s right to abortion. And ever since that day there have been fanatical and far-reaching efforts to undermine and overturn that guarantee.

First thing you need to know is that these efforts are NOT being led by the quiet nuns saying the rosary or even the crackpots holding misspelled protest signs like the media would have you believe. Nope. They are being quietly led by well-funded organizations whose entire purpose is to craft laws meant to chip away and subvert Roe v. Wade and to get those laws into legislative pipelines all over the country. Meanwhile, we sit around, year after year, caught off-guard sniveling, “How does this keep happening?”

We at Lady Parts Justice thought that the combination of a new president hostile to abortion rights being sworn in the same weekend as the anniversary of this landmark abortion rights decision made it a good time to remind you exactly “how this keeps happening.” And to introduce you to Americans United For Life: the organization at the epicenter of these repressive, regressive laws.
