I’m used to being alone.
I enjoy my own company. Is that bad?
If you’ve read my post “Who’s the most important person in your life?” then you already know that the most important person in my life is myself. But not in an arrogant self-centered way.
I came to this conclusion because I have spent a fairly long amount of time alone without any friends. Not that I didn’t have good friends along the way but because I moved a lot and I was bullied and not very liked by my new class mates. But I have learned to be ok with it. Therefore I am used to being alone.
Now, whenever I say that. People ultimately feel bad for me. They always go into a series of “aaaawww” or “I’m sorry” or “I feel bad” etc… But the thing is, I do not want people to feel “sad” about that. I am not sad. When I say “I am used to being alone” I mean that: YES, I was bullied. YES, I had people talking bad about me behind my back and in front of my face. YES, I have been alone. But I do not regret it at all. Sure when you’re younger you want to have friends, you want to be a part of something, you want people to like you. But ultimately I learned to be my own friend, I learned to be a part of something which is “My life”, and I learned to like myself. So as bad as this might sound when I say “I’m used to being alone” it is far FAR from being bad. It is probably the best thing that ever happened to me!
I know that if I ever end up alone, after a break up for instance or if anything happens to someone in my family or if I lose all contacts with a friend, ultimately even if the situation might hurt a whole lot, I know that I have me and as long as I have me then I will be alright and I can face any tough times and challenges!
So really, do not feel bad for me. Because I don’t!
