I am SO EXCITED From the Mixed Up Files is next!! This is my FAVORITE book and it has so much interesting financial plotlines! Stealing pennies from the fountain and using the automat!

One thing that I think might be overlooked with Sarah, Plain and Tall is the idea of Sarah as a single woman, living with her brother until he takes a wife. Was she a mail-order bride? I seem to remember that this book is where I learned this concept.

I find it interesting that, as a woman, she always loved living by the ocean, but is willing to move so far away for the opportunity to marry a stranger and take on his children. I wonder if she had more autonomy if she would have made this same choice?
