Apple’s first 5G smartphone takes us back to a design aesthetic we didn’t know we missed, marrying it to modern touches introduced with the iPhone X to mostly positive affect. There are 5 big reasons I love this smartphone. Granted, there are some caveats, too.
A gorgeous design
The $999 iPhone 12 Pro’s stainless-steel body is taller and wider than the iPhone 11 Pro, but also noticeably thinner and just a hair lighter. Between those subtle changes and the wholesale body overhaul, Apple managed to enlarge the screen from 5.8 inches to 6.1.
The new phone is slightly heavier than the iPhone 11 Pro (189 grams vs 188) and if you prize weight (read “portability”) over all else, you might look at Apple’s new flagship iPhone 12 ($799). It weighs just 164 grams, shares most of the same components as its pricier, stainless steel cousin but loses the 2X Telephoto lens and LiDAR sensor.
