Apple’s most affordable iPad is so good, so smart, so ready for school
I’m not here to tell you whether the new $299 iPad 9.7 is right for your school or for education, in general. Every student is different, so is every class, school, and district. Their needs vary as much as do their budgets.
Apple’s more affordable and powerful 9.7-inch iPad may very well be the perfect choice for your fifth grader, but her school and teachers may prefer Google Chromebooks and Google Docs.
Here’s what I can tell you: The sleek, 1 lb., 0.29-inch thick Apple iPad is an extremely versatile information, learning, creativity, and entertainment device. It’s not a big leap forward like the first iPhone or iPad or even as much of an incremental one as the iPad Pro. Instead, this iPad is a much-needed step forward with ample power for everything from presentations to augmented-reality and with impressive utility in touch and, now, Pencil input.
Of course, at least half the credit for the iPad’s improved education prowess surely goes…
