Women comprise an estimated 40 percent of all entrepreneurs in the United States. Studies show that flexibility is a primary motivator for many women entrepreneurs, who often balance their career alongside family. In fact, a study by MBO Partners revealed that 74 percent of women valued flexibility over maximizing income. Entrepreneurship can be appealing to women who want to work around family schedules, have greater control over their future, or simply balance work alongside personal interests and self-care.

For many women, starting their own business offers greater satisfaction than pursuing a traditional career path. As business owners, women are able to charge what they are worth and advance more quickly, rather than waiting for a promotion. Further, women are able to pursue their passions as careers and spend their time pursuing work they believe in.
