A message from a local Jordanian

As a girl who travels alone in Jordan, almost weekly, as a tourism management student, and as an employee in the tourism sector in Jordan; I admit that Jordan may have a lack in amenities and facilities in some of the touristic areas.
But let’s face it, isn’t there any chance that the same situations could have happened in any other destination in the world?
I mean, it’s an unfortunate fact, worldwide, that tourists get taken advantage of sometimes.

When you are not convinced that you should be paying what they are asking, you can ask to see the person in charge, contact the tourist police, or even contact Jordan Tourism Board. I’m sure they would take the right action.

Jordan is, in fact, awesome and tourist-friendly. Its people are famous for their hospitality. People here just love tourists, and you can read thousands of reviews and articles from travellers and bloggers who had great experiences here, felt very safe, and expressed how Jordanians are very friendly. And I, as a local traveler, YouTuber, and a travel writer, can assure you of that too.

I feel sad for what happened with you. I’m even more sad you didn’t get to see a lot of the awesome places here. You didn’t meet true Jordanian locals, experience the hospitality of the bedouins in Wadi Rum, where you could enjoy the best meal of your life then camp under the stars. You didn’t climb on the highest mountain in Petra where you’ll be met with a spectacular view and possibly encounter an elderly man sitting atop the mountain, singing and playing his rababah. I’m sorry you didn’t get to dive in Aqaba, or have one of our famous water adventures in the beautiful Wadis of Jordan. I’m sorry you didn’t have a proper Ammani experience at the local attractions, and try our hummus, shawarma, and kenafeh, each meal not costing you more than 2 dinars.

If there are any possibility you may make it here again, I will be more than happy to help.

I’m sorry you didn’t get to see what Jordan really is.

Love & Peace,
