I think you chose a really important topic for your blogpost. 
I know some people who are backpacking in Australia and they are doing exactly what you described, so it works good for them. But they are sleeping in vans,tents or cheap hostels and don’t need to pay rent for a house or anything like that. Especially when you think about the videos we watched in class about kiwis living in a van with their entire family because they can’t afford to live in a garage or anything similar, you can definitely tell that New Zealand has got a HUGE problem…
