Larissa Pozner loves interior decorating. Do you remember the the old adage, “Take time to smell the flowers.” Simply put, they deliver a delight for the senses. Do your eyes love to drink in their color?

A Harvard study showed that in-home flowers decrease anxiety and provide bursts of energy. Blossoms make us blossom! Who wouldn’t like to add a little life and vitality to their everyday?

Flowers can make a dramatic difference in how your home looks. From professional-looking to unplanned, spontaneous arrangements, decorating with flowers is an easy way to add beauty and warmth to your rooms. Get creative! Be inspired stylistically!

· Put a bud vase on your beside table and/or desk.

· Make use of a windowbox or adorn your windowsill

· Have an arrangement on your coffee table and/or mantelpiece

· Use umbrella stands, wicker baskets and/or rubber boots for branch flowers

· Get crafty and crate pomander balls with flowers from your garden; hang them fro door knobs, on your stair railings and above doorways.

Use flowers to reflect your personality and/or decorating style. Traditional rooms call for roses, carnations or other blooms with petals, like chrysanthemums and lilies. More eclectic décor and country abodes benefit from friendly flowers like gerbera daisies, tulips and dahlias. Contemporary furnishings are complimented by bold-colored flowers with clean lines and clear shape, such as orchids, bird of paradise ad calla lilies. Romantics can’t go wrong with peonies, roses and gardenias.

Think “outside the box” when it comes to containers. Consider a soup tureen, wine decanters, painted tin cans and canisters, as well as jugs. How about a watering can for rustic charm?

When creating your arrangement, use a lazy Susan, so you can see each side of your flower container, building your design accordingly.

Not sure where to begin? Step #1 is research. Bone up on flower and greenery varieties. Delve into a good flower encyclopedia…and enjoy!

Be sure to share updates with me on how it goes, along with some pictures! Thanks for reading! If you have any great ideas on flowers, let me know. I have a website at Larissa Pozner.
