Full disclosure: I did not read the piece, only the title.

Which is a symptom of pathology. Avocado is close to an ideal food — vitamins and minerals in exquisite bio-availability of healthy vegetable fat (which does NOT make you fat!). Toast is high glycemic index, which means that within minutes of consuming it it turns into glucose. You might as well make an avocado cupcake with three tablespoons of sugar.

If you are not engaging in aerobic exercise before, during or immediately after eating toast, it does make you obese, along with all the other starches and sugar in your diet. Further, the blood sugar roller coasters makes it just as addictive the other comestibles with high glycemic index, including grain and flour based products, roots like potatoes and beets, and fruits — although they are healthier if you eat them raw instead of juicing them.

I think you would be more prudent to add up the health benefit/cost of the avocado and toast and consider divorcing them.
