A devoted member of the world community, Laura Harring began traveling the globe when she was a teenager. After graduating from the prestigious Aiglon College, a Swiss boarding school in Europe, Laura Harring later volunteered her time in the foothills of the Himalayas, as a social worker with The Round Square Conference . She helped vulnerable communities by digging ditches, planting crops, and building schools. Upon returning, Harring decided to continue traveling and she spent the next year backpacking through Europe and Asia for a year, spending many nights sleeping outdoors in the forest, or camping out at the beach and sleeping under the stars, sometimes without a tent.

For 30 years Harring built her career as an actor, but it was starring in David Lynch’s masterpiece Mulholland Drive that got her noticed. In this role, Roger Ebert compared Ms. Harring to Rita Hayworth, and the International Herald Tribune suggested her similarity to Ava Gardner. Mulholland Drive was recently voted The Best Film of the 21st Century in multiple polls. Harring has worked on such films as John Q, The King, Marvel’s The Punisher as well as the movie based on the book by Nobel Prize Winning author of Love in the Time of Cholera, and many other commercial films such as Nancy Drew by Warner Brothers. Harring is no stranger to the small screen though, she has played recurring roles in some of the most successful and considered the coolest shows on television. In 2006 she played a strong arch opposite Forest Whitaker in The Shield, a show that broke the conventional formula for the cop genre, and Gossip Girl that became a world wide sensation among the tweens and New York society as well as the fashion industry. More recently, Laura (pronounced Lara) recurred in Chasing Life and NCIS LA. When you look at Harring’s career, you notice that she plays mostly opposite Academy Award Winners, William Hurt, Denzel Washington, Forest Whitaker, Javier Bardem and legendary stars such as Bob Dylan, and Raul Julia. Harring always holds her own.

Laura Harring draws much of her inspiration from the life of her grandfather Isauro Martinez Cairo, who earned Mexican national championship titles in fencing and equestrian performance in 1948. Cairo passed away just before he competed in the 1948 Olympics, where his first runner-up in the national championships won gold medals in both events. Ms. Harring keeps a photo of her grandfather, as inspiration to succeed in her endeavors. With a eclectic philosophy, Harring believes things are always guided and work out the way they are meant to, and that the Universe does not make mistakes.
