RE-EMBRACE THE CLICHES.
Ignorance really is bliss.
People used to say; “Don’t believe everything you see on TV”. The same applies for what’s happening online. Programmes on the TV have to be deemed ‘suitable for audiences’ before they are broadcast. The same can not be said for the internet, anything goes. Quite literally anything.
A study recently released from Leeds University Institute of Psychological Sciences revealed constant use of the internet can have a dramatic impact on an individual's mental health.
“Our research indicates that excessive internet use is associated with depression, but what we don’t know is which comes first — are depressed people drawn to the internet or does the internet cause depression?” the article’s lead author, Dr Catriona Morrison, said.
“What is clear is that, for a small subset of people, excessive use of the internet could be a warning signal for depressive tendencies.”
It can be admitted gracefully that the internet is full of knowledge, entertainment and trivia but we need to tread carefully; it’s full of opinions and an opinion isn’t a fact.
