We Have More Lawyers Than You do, Sessions.

Last week, a leaked internal document revealed that the Department of Justice intends to divert its resources toward investigating affirmative action — on the grounds that the admissions policy discriminates against white students.

This attack on minorities in education goes against the founding mission of the DOJ and is a strategic move in this administration’s aggressive plan to roll back civil rights. Affirmative action is successful, time-proven method of race-conscious admissions, it does not put anyone at a disadvantage, and all students are better off when their student bodies are diverse.

What was additionally concerning, though, was that Sessions made a call for interested lawyers to join him. The deadline for DOJ attorneys to respond to this call is tomorrow, August 9th, on the six-month anniversary of Session’s chilling confirmation as Attorney General.

We have some good news: the Lawyers’ Committee has the largest pro bono civil rights network in the world, and no matter how many lawyers Sessions enlists in his witch hunt, they are NO match for our team. We have over 4,100 legal volunteers, 200+ partnerships with law firms, and a robust Board of Directors of over 200.

We need you to do two things by our August 9th deadline:

1. Make a contribution to help us grow our capacity to mount swift legal action; and

2. Sign up to #FightLikeHell with us.

Together, we will keep the pressure on this Administration.
