IOT refers to the internet of things, “things” refers to the growing number of devices we use to capture and exchange data.

Many IOT devices will be equipped with sensors and with other computational capabilities so they can capture and process data about supply chains for example.

You might find IOT devices in a factory or in agriculture to capture ambient conditions like temperature, light or humidity and these get fed into a system for example that controls how the factory works.

IOT devices can often be used for monitoring processes within a supply chain, they can be used to track actual physical device’s and products as they move through the supply chain.

IOT devices allow you to be certain that a product has reached each part of the supply chain, successfully and that the product has not been tampered with and is traceable this also helps in tackling and addressing counterfeit products within the supply chain ecosystem.
