One of my most enthralling experiences was exploring the coastal ecosystems of Australia, particularly its beach worms.

What Are Beach Worms?

Beach worms (Family: Onuphidae) are fascinating creatures that inhabit the sandy expanses and shallow waters of Australia’s coastlines. These are not your typical garden worms; they are specially adapted to the marine environment. They are segmented annelids, with elongated bodies ranging from just a few inches to almost three meters in length. Though often mistaken as innocuous squiggles in the sand, these worms play a crucial role in coastal ecosystems.
