Dalton, there is a simple explanation for that. It was given in a very popular TV show here in Italy when a young girl (one of the main characters) asked her mum “Why didn’t they rebuild anything yet?” (referring to a disastrous earthquake in the city of L’Aquila 5 years before).

The answer was brilliant, and pretty much to the point:

«Because we are Italians. We are very good with words but not so much with facts.»
