Col de l’Iseran — Moments We Live For
Passion is everything and when you have the opportunity to feed your passion, it is vital that you take it.
This is the philosophy I have always tried to adhere to and it has led me to some fantastic experiences and places over the course of my life. In this instance it led me to 2770m, atop the Col de l’Iseran, in the freezing cold, with the sun setting over a busy day of guiding our latest private group through Stage Two of the Raid Alps.
To get to the top I had missed dinner, incurred the wrath of our hotelier, pushed myself hard to make the Col before night enveloped the mountain and set myself up for one of the coldest descents I have ever completed.
All of this paled into insignificance though, as the experience of pushing myself to the limits in the total isolation of this incredible mountain, late into a beautiful early summer evening, will remain with me forever. I returned to the hotel that evening feeling refreshed and reenergised and with a huge smile across my face.
So while not all of us have access to an end of work day Alpine Col, the simple process of getting on your bike and feeding your passion makes you a better, happier, healthier person and for that reason I would encourage you all to pursue your own Col de l’Iseran moments.
We’d love to hear your own stories of rides that have become a moment you live for, so please comment below this post and share with the Le Domestique community!
