How Westworld is Making AI and 3D Printing Hip

Westworld shows us a place that only exists in our deepest imaginations. Between the emotional attachment to the characters, superior graphics (have you seen the opening credits?), and impressive technology, one can easily binge watch the entire series. However, you can’t help but acknowledge the amount of progress that’s been made in artificial intelligence (AI) and 3D printing and wonder where we are heading.

AI is now more present in our lives than ever: auditory Google searches, self-driving cars, and headphones that translate from one language to another are just a few examples. Although Westworld shows a scarier side of AI (robots developing self-awareness, blurring the lines between human and machines) it is actually pretty fascinating that this type of technology will someday alter how we go about our daily routines.

We also can’t forget about 3D printing. Have you heard of the study of out Northwestern University where they are creating a customized artificial bone in a matter of minutes? Although this concept still needs to be tested on humans, it is more cost-effective, less invasive, and take less time to heal than traditional bone graft surgeries.

All in all, these two fields are still changing day to day and only time will tell how much one embraces such advancements.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
