Meet Nestlé

Global food giant Nestlé with 275,000 employees worldwide. Their mission “Good food, good life” has been passed down from generation to generation. The regions in which they operate consist of emerging markets with young populations and high demographic and economic growth rates. Nestlé’s TA teams needed a new way to bridge the skills gap and simplify and modernize their TA processes using AI. The goal was to ensure the best candidate experience and quickly identify talent that would be the right culture fit.

Realizing the potential of AI-powered talent acquisition

Many organizations still rely on outdated Talent Acquisition (TA) processes that prioritize previous job titles, years of experience, or educational attainment rather than the actual (or potential) capabilities of the candidate. Nestlé is revamping its whole talent acquisition approach by working with LeapIn AI. As an example, when hiring graduates, they receive hundreds of thousands of applicants each year. The entire hiring process is time-consuming and labor-intensive, making it challenging to avoid bias and mistakes caused by subjective factors during the preliminary screening and interview process, according to a recruiter.

The company is also investing significant time in enhancing its employee value proposition. They want people to see Nestlé as a cutting-edge high-tech employer. This begins with providing a digital interview experience.

LeapIn AI’s hiring solution integrates with Nestlé’s existing ATS system and can automatically trigger AI interviews. After candidates submit their AI interview application, the AI report score is immediately displayed on the ATS system.

At Nestlé, the HR team embraces a skills-based transformation and places a strong focus on talent soft skills, and potential. With a skills-based approach, it becomes easier to identify skills gaps and find the right candidates who possess the skills needed to fill them. “We rely on AI reports to evaluate the next round of interviews. AI interviews help us reduce our workload and focus on more qualified candidates,” says a recruiter.

Talent Management, too

Nestlé is working on more than just hiring. The HR team wants to use advanced AI and machine learning to improve its global workforce planning. The company will have a dashboard of people skills and capabilities by department and location. This will help as it thinks about the skills it needs for the future, who in its workforce has the potential to move into new roles it needs to fill, and how Nestlé will add to the talent needs.

To achieve this, Nestlé is integrating LeapIn AI talent review. This personalized platform will show employees where there may be gaps between their current skills and the skills they need to acquire to progress to the next role.

This way of rethinking work, from jobs to skills, is taking hold elsewhere.
