Tips for Getting Your Supplication Accepted
All of us supplicate to Allah Almighty, but we can never know for sure if our prayers have been accepted. We can only try our best; there are some conditions when the supplication prayers are never accepted no matter how honest they are. Here, we shall now discuss them and certain tips for getting our Supplication Prayers accepted.
As mentioned before, there are certain conditions when the prayers are not accepted. One of them is when our clothing is dirty, ‘paleet’ as it’s called in Urdu. It’s when our clothes have been polluted by an extremely vile material. It could be due to many reasons, such as splash from a car’s tire while crossing the road, urine of a baby etc. In such cases, it is useless to offer prayers and supplicate to Him as our supplications won’t be heard and not caring for cleanliness is a great sin. Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) has said:
“It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbaas said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) passed by two graves and said, “They are being punished, but they are not being punished for something that was difficult to avoid. One of them used to walk about spreading nameemah (malicious gossip) and the other used not to take care to avoid getting urine on himself.” (Muslim)
Therefore, we ought to take care of the cleanliness of our clothes as we have to pray five times a day so getting our clothes dirty is a great risk and a sin we must not commit.
This is another important aspect in the etiquettes of dua. Our ways of earning should be halal, where we work should be halal, and consequently the money should be halal. These are signs of a true Muslim and it must be taken care of by everyone because Allah does not accept the prayer or supplications of those who earn haram. Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) has also mentioned the following to be in the etiquettes of supplicating:
“To abstain from haraam food, clothing and earnings.” (Muslim)
It is also beneficial for the Muslim to exercise these wonderful habits because abstaining from these three things would make him feel pure and clean.
Don’t pray for impossible things
This is the fault of almost every praying Muslim; we pray and then feel disappointed or heartbroken when they’re not accepted. This is a childish behavior and it’s time everyone should start getting mature. We know what impossible desires are and what can’t be granted to us right away. Hence, we should not pray for impossible things. It is also said in a hadith:
“Don’t Make Duaa for impossible things.” (Bukhari)
Hence, we need to control our thoughts and ask Allah for possible things. Du’as like “Oh God! Give me a private jet right now!” are both irrelevant and immature.
Being of the nation of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.), we possess the advantage of supplicating to Allah whenever we wish. However, there are certain things we ought to take care of if we wish our prayers and effort to not get wasted.
