I can understand why France may want to ban burkas and niqabs in government buildings & the like, where it may be important to see an individual’s face; however, I just *cannot* see the logic in banning the burkini on the beach. These are women that are simply wanting to spend time in the sun with their families… they’re not wanting to cause terrorism. (And even if they *did*, it would be completely unrelated to what they were wearing, for Pete’s sake.)
Wearing a burkini is no different from someone covering up with a shirt because they don’t want to get sunburned. It’s no different from someone wearing a wetsuit to stay warm in the water.
Women are called out for wearing too little. Then they’re called out for wearing too much. Of COURSE this is a feminist issue.
