Over the past 3-months, our team has been on a mission to find the best resources for our attorney network. After receiving several messages asking for quality playbooks related to data breaches or data privacy, we decided to build it ourselves.
We solicited input and templates from top privacy and data attorneys at firms and Fortune 500 companies to compile this playbook, and we’re proud to share it with the wider attorney community.

We all have it, we all share it, and we all entrust companies with it. Unfortunately with the rise of companies building business models around user data, we’ve seen more and more data breaches.
In 2017 there were roughly 1,300 unique data breaches globally, and 2018 is on track to top those figures. Although some breaches made a bigger impact than others (looking at you Facebook), there have been hundreds of breaches so far this year. Top 2018 data breaches include:
- Google+ — 500,000 records breached
- Facebook & Cambridge Analytica — 87 million records breached
- My Heritage — 92 million records breached
- Under Armour — 150 million records breached
As attorneys — we need to be prepared to help our clients through a data breach incident. We’ve worked together with top attorneys to put together an internal checklist and incident response process.
