The Perfect Storm
We have entered a critical point in world history that will affect us and future generations for a millennium or more unless we figure things out now.
For me current events bring to mind the scenario described in the beginning of “The Foundation” by Issac Asimov in which the psycho historian Hari Seldon describes a period of galactic chaos that will last 10,000 years unless something is done to rectify problems to shorten that period to less than 1,000 years. Many things have to change quickly in order to forestall this period and it may not be eliminated.
National and world events are forming a perfect storm and without meaningful social solidarity and responsible action from individuals and state actors, we have very little chance of surviving it unscathed.
It will be up to all of us as individuals to try and understand those of different socio-economic, racial, religious, and ethnic backgrounds and seek out how we are the same rather than how we are different. Unite and speak out against ignorance and hatred whenever you encounter it.
