More Trouble for Zeke, Carolina GM Changes, and Summer League MVP

Ezekiel Elliot has entered an appeal of a misdemeanor speeding citation. He is accused of driving 100 mph in a 75 mph zone and entered a plea of no contest in late June. A few weeks later the appeal was filed. This news is also coming on the heels of his alleged altercation at a Dallas bar, where he reportedly punched a man in the nose. Some photos of the victim have surfaced, and his nose is twisted and broken badly. Let’s hope that these issues are the last of Elloits potential superstar career.

Dave Gettelman is out as GM of the Carolina Panthers. One year removed from a Super Bowl appearance and something like a 40–26–1 record as GM he is out. Rumors are that his handling of superstars Steve Smith and Josh Norman was his downfall. According to Peter King, he liked to be seen as the tough guy, and it didn’t work when dealing with characters like Smith and Norman who are very outspoken. But then again, he worked with Cam Newton extremely well. I am sure he will land somewhere, but a few weeks out from training camp is an odd time to fire your GM.

NBA SUmmer League is over, and the Los Angeles Lakers are your champs and Lonzo Ball is your MVP. Despite sitting out for two games including the championship, Lonzo was given the honor after averaging 16 points 9 assists and almost eight rebounds. I think the ceiling is high for this kid and he has a chance to be an All-Star type player right away.
