Vacation, Diamondbacks Tank, and Summer League

I am back from an amazing vacation. My daughter crushed it at her dance performance in Anaheim, I watched some 10U All-Star baseball in Carlsbad and went VIP status to Universal Studios Hollywood.

I did all that while the Dbacks took a dump. They got swept by the Dodgers and lost two of three to the Reds. When I went to vacation, the Dbacks were 2.5 back, and now they sit at 7.5 back and only up two against the third place Rockies.

Summer league basketball is more popular than ever the hype train that is Lonzo Ball on the court. He laid an egg in his first Summer League game, and the overreactions were crazy. He went 1–11 from three and only had five points, but then came back with an 11–11–11 triple-double performance in game two to slow down the speculation of his demise.

Markell Fultz is done for the summer with an ankle injury, so that is only going to leave more time for the Lonzo Ball hype machine.

The Dallas Mavericks beat the Suns in their second game with Gaurd Dennis Smith Jr outplaying Sun’s pick Josh Jackson. Smith scored 25 compared to 15 from Jackson, Jackson has looked like a capable defender and has all the athletic chops needed to be a successful NBA wing. The Suns will be fun to watch, but will not win many more games this year.
