Sometimes I too take some days off my writing. It can be for exhaustion (from my job), to have a social/familiar weekend or, as it happened recently, for the love of it. As you said, when it becomes an obligation, I feel drained, writing with no emotions attached. As I don’t depend on my writing to live, I can do it on my own time. That’s why , once in a while, I have a break from it. And you know what? When I return I’m much more productive and inspired.
