I find it difficult to see how in any way, shape or form that dating has not gotten worse? I’m GenX so I can also speak from the perspective of “before and after” internet dating. The only thing I would possibly put in the plus column for “after” is the phenomenal increase of access and choice. However, the paradox of choice most often comes back to bite online daters in the ass.

I do understand and accept that this is a different time. It’s hard not to when you work as a college professor. I may keep aging, but my students stay the same age. This different time has only encouraged me to stop dating altogether. Naturally as I matured, I raised my standards, but the essence of what I’ve wanted from a relationship from the age of 30 to 45 hasn’t changed very much at all. The main difference between then and now is that I have a much harder time believing it’s still possible to find it.
