One Night

Yesterday

I couldn’t see

that you were maybe into me.

I swear I just was

hoping to

enjoy a beer or several

And so we danced

the night was long

we drank and grinned and sang the songs

And then we slept

for life is short

just like the fights we never fought.

For we both know it

you and I

the life we love is flying by

And I will come

to understand

that maybe you had other plans

And since you asked me

what shall come

I’ve often wondered what I’ve done

But more than all

I’ve come to see

our lives needs lovin, naturally

And past the dawn

and early light

out the window, out of sight

Off you go

while I remain

Thinking I’m in love again.

Off you go.
