3 crazy tech innovations that you will find in the hospitality sector this year
Les Roches student blogger Marco Pellegrini brings you three tech innovations that you might see in 2016 in the travel and tourism sector. Sounds crazy? We think so. Interesting, but still crazy…
It is hard to believe it, but the time has arrived when reality outdoes fiction. Restaurants and hotels, are integrating top notch technologies such as:
- Oculus Rift (virtual reality): Like a pair of goggles, you simply have to wear them and, for example, you will find yourself swimming in the ocean or relaxing on a beautiful sandy beach. You can even find yourself walking side by side with the Chairman of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Isadore Sharp, for a tour around a new Four’s Seasons property.

- 3D Holograms: The use of holograms to enhance the possibility of interaction and presentation of certain activities and products is simple but visually attractive. You could, for example, see a cruise itinerary displayed, or the new special of the month for the trendiest restaurant in the city.
- Artificial Intelligence: For those who really love extreme innovation, the combination of holograms and A.I (Artificial Intelligence) appears to be the latest challenge for new companies in the hospitality business. Imagine being served in a restaurant by the 3D clone of a celebrity chef, who can record the order and pass it to the kitchen.
However, we reckon that even if technology can boost the wow factor, humans will never be replaced by machines in our line of work, because
there’s one thing that technology can’t provide and it’s at the core of any hospitality business… love.
