Facebook’s Complicity in the Silencing of Black Women
Ijeoma Oluo

Holy sh*t. I cannot believe the number of people on here telling a rightfully nervous black woman that she was “racist” to worry about being the only black person in a sea of cowboy-hatted whites. What part of this don’t you guys get? She was in a strange place with strangers. She had no idea how they felt about people of color. Why is that racist, when SHE is the minority? She and other people of color live with CONSTANT, DAILY prejudiced behavior by whites. She’s SMART to be nervous and aware. Sheesh. So many white people are so damned exited to get to yell “racist” at a black person. Settle down and imagine what it would be like. Open your minds and your hearts a little.
