The Los Angeles Bucket-List

If you have 2–3 days in the City of Angels, more commonly known as Tinseltown, here’s what I recommend you should do (my list of top 10 picks from LA, a must on any 23 year old’s bucket list):

  1. Cycle Along The Beaches at Santa Monica

The very famous Santa Monica Pier is a delight to visit with the gigantic and colourful rides to please the eyes and the warm scent of American food surrounding you as you walk beside the beach! What goes for a miss in this lively place is the cycling path that has been built alongside the shore from Santa Monica Pier to Manhattan Beach. Just go to the first cycle shop you see (rent cycles for ~$30/day ) and go on a lovely bike ride under the California sun. Get baked with a smile on your face!

2. Go Skinny Dipping On Venice Beach

<no description required>

Spending time at the beach is literally the best part of any vacation near the coast :D However, Venice Beach is highly recommended due to the location and the liveliness of the surrounding areas.

3. Have Fried Chicken and Beer at The Waterfront

Post cycling and skinny dipping in the beaches along the coast, Grab drunch at this place called ‘On The Waterfront Cafe’. The thought of their fried chicken still makes me drool. I tried peach cider for the first time here- refreshing beyond what words can describe!

4. Visit ‘The Bungalow’ for Drinks and Dinner (nah, just drinks!)

They say LA comes to life at night, and the only places where you can see that happening are the bars and night clubs. We went to this place called ‘The Bungalow’. This is your perfect go to place for amazing cocktails in an ambience which is a good mix of a night club and a house party, and guaranteed ‘good company’ :)

5. Take a Trip To The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios, Hollywood

Now here’s a biased listing- a potterhead by heart, I could not stop myself from visiting this gem of a place, even though this was my second time at Universal Studios, Hollywood. I was quite determined on spending a day at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. From butterbeer being served on mobile stalls, to the voice of Moaning Myrtle in the washrooms- I almost shed a tear or two just remembering the books and the movies and all that #harrypotter jazz I had grown up with.

Must Do: Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey!

6. Walk On The Walk Of Fame

Not just me, anyone who has been to LA would tell you what an experience it is to visit the Walk Of Fame. Not for the names of the stars engraved on the road, but for the real life stars- snake charmers, musicians, dancers, artists and what not- trying to display their talent and sell their art to one and all, with glitter in their eyes and life in their souls.

I remember taking a cup of iced tea from Starbucks and just sitting and observing the dramatic way in which things were moving on the Walk Of Fame.

7. Hike Up To The Griffith Observatory (La La Land, remember?)

Remember that dance sequence on the hill top in La La Land? That was shot on this spot called the Griffith Observatory. All thanks to the traffic on the way to the observatory- we hiked our way up the hilly terrain of LA to this beautiful hilltop- giving us the view of the Hollywood sign. It was mesmerizing to say the least.

8. Binge Eat American Breakfast at IHOP

(I clicked this picture halfway through my meal- simply because it was just irresistible!)

9. A Walk Down History At The Getty Museum

They say that Dan Brown is going to base his next book on this enigmatic museum, a short drive from the city of LA. If you have even the slightest interest in American history- this is a must!

10. Have A sip of ‘Mimosa’ everywhere you go!

See that yellow drink on the table? I had it in literally every restaurant I visited. What a marvel, really :)

Hope this was helpful. Always ready to answer questions and shell out more details to those interested :)

A big thank you to our BnB host- Valerie. This trip would not have been half as much fun without the comfort of her house. You can find her here!

Hasta La Vista :)
